How to Acquire a Category D Bus Licence
If you intend to drive a bus/minibus/coach in Category D professionally (as part of your job), you will need to go through a two stage Theory Test process before you can apply to sit a Bus Driving and PracticalTest.
- Stage 1- Category D Learner Permit:
You must pass the Category D (Bus) Driver Theory Test before you can apply to a Motor Taxation Office (MTO) for a Category D Learner Permit. See DTT section for more information and to book your test. - Stage 2 – Driver CPC:
You must pass the Driver CPC Theory Test, BEFORE you can apply to the RSA for a Bus Driving and Practical Test. The Driver CPC Theory Test is in 2 parts;
Part 1 – CPC Multiple Choice Questions (CPCCB) exam, covering all the subjects in the Driver CPC syllabus consisting of multiple choice and/or direct questions.
Part 2 - CPC Bus - Case Studies (CPCB) exam, consisting of 3 Test Scenarios on specific Category D topics.
